Three men tortured the helpless victim

On 24 January, the Budapest Police Headquarters launched an investigation into a case of robbery by questioning the victim who was subject to the brutal attack. The man was at home in the early evening, taking a shower when the power went out in the entire house. When he stepped outside to check the electricity meter cupboard, two unknown men attacked him. They pushed him into the kitchen, duct-taped his legs to the leg of a chair while his hands were tied together behind his back and his eyes were taped shut.

The victim did not see the faces of his attackers. The perpetrators demanded to know where he kept his money. The man told them where his money was, but the robbers beat him again when they saw that he did not have as much money as they initially expected. The robbers beat him until they had the codes to his bank card and home safe.

However, the safe turned out to be empty and only HUF 150,000 (EUR 374.77) could be withdrawn from the victim’s bank account. In addition to the two attackers, a third person gave instructions to his accomplices from outside the house. The victim was ordered to raise the limit so that more money could be taken from his account.
